Power

The heart of any electronic component is it’s power supply.  Clean power is directly correlated to a better listening experience.  This foundational belief has led Swan Song Audio to build it’s core competency in Clean Power.  Clean Power is an approach developed over several years.  The research and development ground rules for Clean Power are defined as:

  • No noise levels > .5mv for large current draws and .2mv for small current draws
  • No active regulators allowed
  • Must be able to work with voltage in excess of 400v
  • Must be able to work at 100 watts
  • No toroidal transformers due to their increased magnetic flux lines
  • No switching supplies that move the noise to a different frequency

The same underlying power supply design is used in all Swan Song Products.  The difference in power supply designs relate to either additional filtering or distributed processing to handle larger current draws.  The success of clean power can be seen that by switching the DACP from the Advanced Supply to the Battery Supply results in only a 3dB change in the noise floor of the already exceptionally quiet DACP.  At the other extreme the design handles the massive power demands of the 845 SET amplifier in which it was first demonstrated.

Each White Swan product uses the same power supply DIN connector and levels.  This allows for one power supply to serve multiple products.

Base

Base Supply

The Base Supply is designed to serve the following products:

  • All Phonos
  • ADC

 

Instrumentation

Instrumentation Supply

Compared to the Base Supply, the Instrumentation Supply adds increased filtering (3dB quieter), power handling, and adjustable LED lighting.  It is designed to serve the following products:

  • All Phonos  
  • ADC
  • DAC when used with > 100 ohms headphones

 

Advanced

Advanced Supply

Compared to the Instrumentation Supply, the Advanced Supply adds increased power handling while retaining the instrumentation filtering and LED lighting.  It is designed to serve the following products:

  • All Phonos
  • ADC
  • DAC with no restrictions

Battery

Battery Supply

The Battery Supply utilizes 2, 2.6 amp hour batteries.  With such large reserves it can power the DACP with 0.5 watts of output power for 10 hours on one charge.  The supply does not need to be connected to AC in order to send out power.  Charging occurs when the AC switch is turned on and the batteries are set to charge mode.  It is the lowest noise power supply and is designed to serve the following products:

  • All Phonos
  • ADC
  • DAC with no restrictions
